Project 1 (Audio Editing) Rubric

Grades will be tabulated using the following rubric items…

  • Following Directions (10 pts): 1 -2 minute MP3 file uploaded to a cloud storage service with link sent via email by deadline
  • Edits (10 pts): clean, not too tight and not obvious, not just one or two long clips
  • Levels (10 pts): consistent and loud enough (average between -6 and 0)
  • Audio Quality (10 pts): noise removal / affect of noise removal / use of room tone
  • Story (10 pts): does the edit tell a cohesive story? Do the clips stand on their own?
Project 2 (Audio Interview) Rubric

Grades will be tabulated using the following rubric items…

  • Following Directions (10 pts): 1 -2 minute MP3 file uploaded to a cloud storage service with link sent via email by deadline

Project 3 (Multimedia Story) Rubric

Grades will be tabulated using the following rubric items…

  • Following Directions (10 pts): 1 -2 minute story (interview audio, photos and music) uploaded to a video streaming service with link sent via email by deadline
  • Audio (10 pts): is audio well edited, good consistent volume levels, relatively noise free?
  • Music(10 pts): is music appropriate match to subject and mixed well with interview audio?
  • Photos (10 pts): good number of pictures, pictures fill the screen space (no black), no repetition of photos, photos synced with audio
  • Story (10 pts): does the project tell an effective story?
Project 4 (Video Scavenger Hunt) Rubric

Grades will be tabulated using the following rubric items…

  • Following Directions (10 pts): shots of each item listed (5-10 seconds each) strung together into a single video with titles and music – uploaded to a video streaming service with link sent via email by deadline
  • Composition (10 pts): is the subject the main focus of the shot – did you try the rule of 3rds?
  • Lighting (10): are the subjects well lit and easy to see?
  • Steady Shots (10 pts): are the shots steady – did you use a tripod?
  • Overall Creativity (10 pts): did you get creative with this project?
Project 5 (Video Shooting) Rubric

Project 6 (Video Editing) Rubric

Grades will be tabulated using the following rubric items…

  • Following Directions (10 pts): 1-2 minute video of a repetitive process shot from multiple angles, uploaded to a video streaming service with link sent via email by deadline.
  • Subject Matter (10 pts): did you shoot a repetitive/cyclical motion as outlined in class discussion and examples?
  • Camera Technique (10 pts): utilization of techniques learned in class… composition of shots, focus, effective lighting, steady/level shots, etc.
  • Editing Technique (10 pts): are the shots edited in a way that the edits do not draw attention to themselves? Does the end result look like one fluid motion?
  • Audio (5 pts): did you add music to the project as assigned?
  • Overall Creativity (5 pts): did you get creative with this project?
Project 7 (Profile Video) Rubric

Grades will be tabulated using the following rubric items…

  • Following Directions (10 pts): 1-3 minute story built from interview and b roll, uploaded to a video streaming service with link sent via email by deadline.
  • Subject Matter (10 pts): an interview and good amount of b roll to compliment story
  • Camera Technique (10 pts): multiple camera angles/shots, good composition of shots, focus, effective lighting, steady/level shots, etc.
  • Editing Technique (10 pts): are the shots edited in a way that the edits do not draw attention to themselves (edits covered with varying angles and/or b roll)
  • Audio (10 pts): good consistent sound quality with addition of music
Final Project (Tutorial Video) Rubric

Grades will be using the following rubric items…

  • Following Directions (10): 2-4 minute multimedia tutorial, uploaded to a video streaming service with link sent via email by deadline.
  • Organized “Story” (10): good storytelling technique with beginning, middle and end
  • Camera Technique (10): multiple camera angles/shots/b roll, good composition of shots, focus, effective lighting, steady/level shots, etc.
  • Sound (10): good consistent sound quality of dialogue, music and effects
  • Editing Technique (10): good amount of editing with shots edited in a way that the edits do not draw attention to themselves (edits covered with varying angles and/or b roll)
